Offensive Content

I've had a request for more offensive content. The trouble is that any offensive content that I might come up with on my own is unlikely to piss off my regular readers... So:

What could I write about that you would find offensive?

If I don't get enough good replies in the comments I can always use my fallback of suggesting the use of babies as firebreaks for wealthy Kelowna suburbs.

Been done, I'm afraid. Swift's "A Modest Proposal," would be.

As for offensive, I request a clarification: What is deemed offensive and what -- merely controversial?

Oh no you don't. You claimed to be offensive prior to encountering me :) Thus, you must have had some definition to compare your own offensiveness against.

Oh, bloody hell. I went and deleted the reply in order to respond more fully to your reply, and then you go and answer it as I do so. Well, hell.

For the curious, I said in the above delete post: That, my dear sir, is the question I put to you.

What I was going to add was that you caught the baby-eating reference. :)

And in actual reply, rather than answering with a big, long, rambling reply without actually answering:

Mostly I have the perception that a lot of my beliefs, spirituality, personal relationship configurations, opinions on gay marriage and other charged topics, and general lack of mainstream moral conformity are highly offensive to a particular (*cough* Albertan *cough*) segment of the population. Not to mention my Alberta-bashing, despite knowing a lot of decent Albertans. Bloody Klein. But I digress.

So, the content in my journal that I warn people they might find offensive would be those things that might upset the delicate balance of denial and arrogance maintained by those of strong opinion, lack of information, and low tolerance for the way other people choose to live their lives.

So, anyone want to discuss the fact that our secular government defines marriage according to the principles of a very particular and often-oppressive religious faction?

First, I'll say "Bloody Klein," then I'll mention that I'm Albertan by proxy :)

The reason I added your blog in the first place was your disclaimer in the profile. In my experience, people who include something of the sort are not, in most cases, deliberately trying to offend. They are, however, frequently possessed of unorthodox views and aren't afraid to express those.

I could not begin to describe how tired I am of the political correctness that is shoved down our collective throats on a daily basis. If I ever have to call anyone a "Breasted Canadian," I swear I will go out and start choking whatever politician is nearest.
If it happens to be Klein, all the better. Me, I'm just amused by the fact that Calgary has an openly gay mayor, and yet the only imbecile with no political foresight whatsoever gets elected as AB's premier.

And yes, I am *very* hopeful that he isn't representing the majority.

I've only dimly heard that term before. I am suddenly amused by the idea of spending a weekend referring to any female that comes up in conversation as a "Breasted Canadian." For variety, I could occasionally get into a digression about the fact that it's really a misnomer since we've all got a breast, and then what about Canadian fowl?

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on whether one would have to suffer through such silliness), I'm not nearly enough of a shit disturber to actually do that any time soon.

And yes, I am *very* hopeful that he isn't representing the majority.

It's likely that he's not. Most elected officials get elected by a plurality or a so-called "simple majority;" that is, less than half the voters. On the other hand, it's impossible to know from election statistics how many people supported any particular candidate when there was more than two running, as voters can only indicate their strongest preference, rather than the full range of their preference. Even in a two-candidate race, what do the abstinent votes count toward: approval of both or disapproval of either?

The one-person one-vote system is another of my peeves, now that you mention it. :)

Dude? Been to Ontario lately?

You're one of the least offensive people I've ever met unless you're talking about Christianity.

In a random, "I'm bored on night shift" themed comment, do you play chess?

Yes, I play chess. I'm terribly rusty, though, and the last time I played _locke ran circles around me. Granted, he excells at most games he puts his mind to.

I've improved my opening game a bit in the past year, and I've always played a mean end-game, but I really need to work on that little bit in the middle.

Well, I would recommend GameKnot as the place to practice. (Said he, having just shot himself in the foot in two games)

Hmmm ... graphic descriptions of your stool would certainly be somewhat offensive. Well, probably not offensive now that I think of it, more just disgusting.

Hmm .. offensive you say?

You could talk about how niggers and spics are killing babies in Kelowna while the damn jews are withholding money from your brothers. Hmm ... probably to Aryan.

Hmmm ... you know, probably the best way to be offensive to people would be to make up malicious lies about them, and call them nasty names, and associate them with things they are not, and generally push them.

Good luck with that. *smile*

hmm ... never heard that term before.

it is nice and racially inappropriate though

Oh! I get it now.

I was picturing some sort of esoteric mud-wrestling-while-running event until just a moment ago.

Nope, we aren't holding any of his money. Sorry.

What I find offensive...hrm...oh gah, it all depends on the day. Try me ;)
Basically anything one-sided, priviledged, and straight-faced.
