I don’t really have much of interest to say here—I just wanted to try out a formatting trick with the table there and I thought the results were mildy interesting and almost accurate. (Tell me if it breaks in your browser or you layout, and I’ll see if I can find out why.)

The marathon weekend of work is over (until next weekend). It’s do-able, and I’m sure it will be easier next week. I’m looking forward to having four days off.

That cold is still being irritating. Fortunately, I often seem to get colds only on one side of my head, as is the case this time. This is convenient, as it leaves me one nostril to breathe with.

I experienced a first in the year-and-a-half I’ve been living at this place. I usually head down Pender and then take a U-turn to get facing the right way to parallel park in front of the building. Tonight, as I was preparing to angle into the spot, a hooker ran up and tried my passenger door. Apparently my U-turn was taken as a signal. As I was actually trying to park and get up to my apartment to fall over from fatigue, and she was standing right in the parking spot, this was just a wee bit irritating. I keep my doors locked, fortunately, but I had never thought that a situation like this would be the first time that that precaution would prove itself. Now, don’t get me wrong—the Oldest Profession is poorly considered by our legislators as far as I’m concerned and I don’t have any problem with those who choose to practice their trade around here. However, if I could accidentally be arrested for soliciting sex just by trying to park in front of my own apartment building, there is something seriously wrong with the situation.

The music meme seems to be pretty accurate considering what music I grew up listening to and when. However, the algorithm seems to be sufficiently unimaginative that it can’t take into account someone who listens to folk, NIN, anime soundtracks, Rocky Horror, game music remixes, The Aquabats, comedy/filk, and etcetera. So, it’s more a How’s Your Taste in Top 40 Music? kind of meme. And what the hell is “Adult Alternative”?

And now it’s bedtime. Pookie is being plaintive about not being cuddled. I have to be sure to visit the vet and get more of her favourite food tomorrow.

And what the hell is “Adult Alternative”?
Adult Alternative usually refers to bands that were popular once, but are not so much any more. They however are sitll putting out music and people listen to them, but they are not in the spot light.

Here is a Top Ten List from the Music Choice service

1. KEANE "EVERYBODY'S CHANGING" (INTERSCOPE)
2. BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN "DEVILS AND DUST" (COLUMBIA)
3. THE DAVE MATTHEWS BAND "AMERICAN BABY" (RCA)
4. KATHLEEN EDWARDS "BACK TO ME" (ZOE)
5. JACK JOHNSON "SITTING, WAITING, WISHING" (BRUSHFIRE)
6. HOWIE DAY "COLLIDE" (EPIC)
7. MOBY "BEAUTIFUL" (V2 RECORDS)
8. ROB THOMAS "LONELY NO MORE" (ATLANTIC)
9. JEM "24" (ATO)
10. ARI HEST "A FOND FAREWELL" (COLUMBIA)

It's like Adult Contemporary, only these guys are beyond being called contemporary. Mostly it's another way to define a DJ's format.

Knew all that schooling would come in handy one day.

Word. Not exactly my taste but mine is equally mixed (classical choir music after Nightwish after Monty Python after medieval folk rock etc).

yes... Pookie does indeed get plaintive about the cuddles

I am also amused by the parking spot issue *giggles* Definately a good note to keep the other doors locked when driving around!

Thanks a lot for linking to OC ReMix way back when, Saxifrage. We appreciate it! We've certainly added a lot of new material to OCR since your post here, so please swing by if you haven't checked us out in a while! All the best to you!
