Inaugural wireless post

Installed a wireless card in my new computer. Set up wireless router. Turned both on and set up drivers, etc. You’d think at this point everything would Just Work™, but no. Several hours later, the connection is working (and I’m not sure what I did to make it finally go...) on both Windows and Debian. Yay. Now to move the whole shebang to the new place and see if it still works...

Oh yeah, I’ve started my move to the new place. Yay, disorganisation.

In other news, I bought Myst 4 today to take advantage of my smokin’ new machine.

UPDATE: Computer is moved, everything works just peachy on the roomies’ Shaw connection. I checked both their computer (connected to the wireless router by cabled ethernet) and my wireless connection. There’s a very weak, secured signal coming from somewhere nearby named “yang”. I’m amused, yet also disappointed that it’s not unsecured. On the other hand, I’m pleased that the owner of that network isn’t a complete dumbass.

It's a double edged sword isn't it? People only seem to be responsible and lock things up when it would be useful to us for them to leave it open.

True. In this case, though, I'm more glad that they're not dumb-ass, especially since the signal strength is little to nothing anyway.

Yay! Glad it's going. How's Pookie settling in?

Mouse,
slightly cat-scratched

Pookie is being crabby and hissing at the other cats, but she's not being a shut-in. I'm confident they'll figure things out in time. She doesn't like going downstairs yet—while I was doing laundry, she crept halfway down the stairs and meowed piteously because she wanted to know where I'd gone but didn't want to come down to find me.
