Challenging meme
twitch sigil
I let most memes pass me by. Most aren't very interesting, or are trying too hard to be memes. This one would usually fall by the wayside for trying to hard (the viral clause), but there is an element of sincerity this meme evokes that comes from unflinchingly taking its challenge. Does that make sense?

Anyway, the meme:

1. I'll respond with something random about you.
2. I'll challenge you to try something new.
3. I'll pick something environmental, such as a colour, scent or sound that I associate with you.
4. I'll tell you something I like about you.
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll tell you what (choose category - animal, colour, element, celebrity) that you remind me of.
7. I'll ask you something I've always wanted to ask you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this in your journal.

(Via hundun.)

In other news, classes are done and I have two essays due for Tuesday. Then I have an exam on Thursday and another a week later. Almost clear! Then a nice break, a honeymoon in the Okanagan, and then back to classes for summer.

1. The kaleidoscope of colours is delightful.
2. Find a park in town that you've never been too, and hold a picnic there.
3. A gestalt of sense impressions from your Ridley place. I can't pull any distinct scents, colours, or sounds out of them.
4. You're life seems to be a constant process of renewal and improvement, and affirmation of Good Things. I have immense respect for living so well.
5. First kiss at Sin City. There's quite a lot of earlier memory, but they're rather faded beside that. (Some of those earlier were mediated by text, too, so there's less presence to them.)
6. Annie Sprinkle.
7. I think this is one of those ones to ask in person.

It's probably not really fair of me to go "Oh, me, meee, meeeeee!" but the results, if you attempt it, might be interesting. Or just silly, if that's how you go with it. My guess is that 1-6 is easy but 7 might be tough, or possibly not fit for public consumption...

Anyway, no obligation, love ;-)

1. Manchester United? I've never understood that.
2. Run a roleplaying session, adventure, or campaign. I bet you'd be good at it.
3. Purple! No, orange! *aaaaah*
4. Since the day we've met you've humbled me with your insight, ability, and accomplishments. I appreciate and often need a good humbling. It gives me something to shoot for, too.
5. You were introducing yourself in a round at the beginning of a vanpoly meet while I made guacamole in the kitchen. Later, when Erin said that I ran a gaming group, we sat side-by-side and chatted about gaming, writing, computers, and other stuff I don't really remember while trying to figure out the relationship structures around you and simultaneously trying to seem interested but not overly forward. That was a memorable night. :-)
6. Mouse? :-)
7. I don't think there are any of these! Actually, now that I think about it... that's also something for in-person.

1. Believe it or not, I quite like the game of football that Americans curiously call "soccer". It's a wonderful game to watch - but as with all other things that involve gluing my eyes to a damned TV for long periods of time, I indulge it only rarely.
2. Really? Gah! Maybe this summer I'll try a one-off, then. Just with a few close friends so I don't feel too self-conscious. I have never GMd - serious performance anxiety around there.
4. I certainly didn't expect that response - you've made me feel all warm and fuzzy at the start of my workday. Thank you, my love.
5. I remember it well :)
6. Heheh, that one was too easy.
7. Tonight, then ;-)

I've always loved memes like this! However, the obligation to post it in your own journal afterwards always makes one feel very guilty, at which point they post it in their own journal anyhow without any real want to fulfill the meme themselves; however cool and awesome it is.

But I shall repost! Because it's the honorable thing to do! And who doesn't love a challenge?

Oh, right, I forgot about this: MEEEEE!!! Oh, oh, pick me!!

1. The slough is beautiful through your eyes.
2. Go out wearing your hair down or part-down more often. Get it styled professionally (but not cut!) if that would help. Actually, I bet that would be really neat to see itself.
3. Black-panther purple.
4. Apart from your artistic talent? Your thoughtfulness and ability to introspect. I see a lot of myself in you, that way.
5. Trying to be quiet and unobtrusive, sitting on the couch in the front room of your place.
6. Horses!
7. Who are you when you take the spotlight for yourself? I'd like the chance to find out.

Honeymoon in the Okanagan? If you feel like dropping by to visit, do so. Nice restaurant on the vinyard too.

You're right, we are! It somehow didn't click that when we've been talking about Kelowna in a few weeks and you've been talking about Kelowna in a few weeks, that's the same time and place.

We will be checking out a bunch of vineyards. Which one will you be at?

Summerhill :) The one with the pyramid

The pyramid people! I guess they would be the most likely place to value permaculture values among all of them. We were planning on visiting there just to see the place with our own eyes.

Stephen is quite a character, though I've only met him once so far. The permaculture in this case is an extension of the current organic practice.

Awesome! We met some of those delightful nutters at a wine festival once. I'm not sure I can rightly attribute it to "pyramid energy", but they do make some very good wine and hold a lot of interesting ideas. I bet you'll have a blast.

I'd love to visit - we were going to hit that winery anyway! What will your schedule be like?

(just to clarify because I think that came out wrong - I'd be totally up for visiting even if we weren't already planning on going to Summerhill :)

Well, I don't know what my schedule will be, but it's likely to be relatively flexible. I'll have my cell, same number, and will at least check messages morning and evening.

There's likely space for you to stay, too, if you guys want a cheap weekend vacation sometime. I'll know more when I've been up there for a bit, of course.

And, of course, m'self.

For me, just do #5! :)

Me-me-me meeeeee. Me-me-me meeeeeee. Mememememememe... Mememememememe... Meme me me me. Meme me me me. Me me me me me ME!!!

What if I promise to post it in my journal after you answer, and then you answer, and then I don't post it? What's the PENALTY?

Forty lashes and being thrown into the laser unicorn pit.

That doesn't sound so bad. Okay, so I promise to post in my journal after you answer..

Well I've never done one of these before (... or have I?), so why don't we give it a shot?

So we pick one of the choices for number six right? Animal is too easy... so I choose the environmental option.

Cheers! :P

Thanks. It never gets old for me, so amusing. "Took" it from someone in the Friendly Hostility community. :P
