ART
ART/TEMPERANCE "the creator, the alchemist"
You achieve balance and integration through the
creative process or by working with the hands;
you have a deep love for your creative
expression which is inspired by your great
perception and emotional insights. You love
truth and beauty for their own sakes. You have
the ability to balance and blend masculine and
feminine, yin and yang, reception and
assertion. Remember that the highest art form
is that of artful relationships.

Motive, schmotive, I've heard some wonderfully original things from you. You're just not noisy about it.

And apparently my long-term memory isn't listening hard enough either. :)

I keep ideas in my notebook, so I have a "queue"...I currently have 2-3 paintings, plus 3+ poems that need writing. I suggest the same/similar, busy-boy ;)

Ack! That sounds way too organised for me to maintain. Besides which, it's not really that I want to work on any one of those things per se, but more that I want to work on the related skills.

e.g. I have some talent for drawing but never do because my technical skills are crap. I have some talent for GMing but I don't tend to experiment and expand my skills because I live so far from my players and consequently don't get to play very often.

A sad consequence of not having well-exercised skills is that ideas simply don't come to me very often. :( I just wish I had the motive to focus on one thing at a time and actually get better at something.

Hrm. I have a related problem in that I like to do a LOT of stuff (poetry, prose, drawing, collage, performance, painting, sculpture, lantern building, candle-making, costuming, photography, baking, mask-making....etc) that I get alot of ideas but don't get to pursue them...Tho I find...the more time I make for my "stuff" the more ideas I get or, more importantly, *notice* and act upon...for example, after a long spell of despairing about my writing, I have decided to experiment with journalling, which has lead to more "free writing" and prose, and has lead to more poetry happening...I think you need to just decide TO focus on something and get better at it ;)

I've noticed the same thing: that I'll think of a lot more ideas and generally be more creative when I'm focused on a particular area.

Alas, that's my trouble; my attention span for hobbies seems to be fairly short, so I just don't focus on anything for long enough. I do come back to it eventually, though...

You need a scheme to keep you focused. Keeping my supplies in a central area helps (well, as central as the "shelf" in the living room)...as well as organizing art days with friends.

That might work. If I had somewhere to lay out my paint pots and brushes and miniatures, then I'd likely get more of them painted and presentable.

I don't have the space at the current place, but I should keep that in mind when moving.

When ya house-hunting, again? *wink*

We're currently house-hunting in the wishful-thinking sense. I'm hoping that after the Retreat, Dryad will be spending some of her time in town looking at places so that we can get this ball rolling.

We've been stalling too, because the suite at Em's sounds perfect, if we and all our stuff will only fit. But, her housemate keeps waffling on whether he's going to move or not...

Hrm, maybe we should have the "Noises Upstairs from Me" start inhabiting Em's during the day...that would solve many issues all at once....

Ideas do seem to flow more easily once the ball gets rolling. This is an occasionally frustrating thing about my writing (sometimes feels like I'm Sisyphus rolling that ball...)

perhaps when you complete a story, you could reward yourself with a crown of wild celery.
