The fine fellows over at Team17 are about to do it again with the imminent release of Worms 3D.

For those of you who are familiar with the original Worms, Worms Armageddon, or Worms: World Party, this should be exciting. According to the Team17's Worms 3D news page, a lot of things had to be restructured, massaged, eliminated, or just plain munged to make the game work in 3D, but it sounds like they've removed and kept things with the ultimate goal of keeping the game play familiar to those of us who've come to love the franchise.

So dig out that rocket launcher and uncrate your banana bombs, 'cause it's due for release in October of this year. Watch their news for the imminent release of the demo.

I must say that I really liked the original worms but the further additions to worms really drove me off. Something about the style of play was lost from the original which was really quite good. I don't see how this can be redeemed with a 3D version, but I suppose I'll give it a shot.

I never did play the original Worms -- I was first hooked by the PS1 version of Worms Armageddon and I liked it enough that I eventually went out and bought the PC version. (But the PC version doesn't have the cut scenes! Yarrgh!)

It should be interesting to see how this one compares to all the ones that went before.

I played the beta at E3 this year and was quite impressed. They have managed to keep the feel of the old games, just in 3D now.

Ooo.... I like dthat game when you brought it over. It's pretty nifty. Can't wait to try the 3D one.

Me too. *checks site* The demo's still not out yet...
