A new Dawn

Okay, that's a really corny title. No-one ever accused me of style, though.

So, today is my first day of classes at SFU. I'm farting around on the computer and I need to get going in half an hour. I've got my class schedule, I've got my pen, I've got my notebook, I've got my U-Pass (and a lack of general strike!), and I've got some cash for the indulgence of lunch at the campus White Spot. Now I just gotta get me some of that momentum, and get dressed...

My final paycheque from Cascade just came through this morning to inflate my bank account. At the same time, my tax return dropped in there to say 'hi' too. I've moved the month's expenses into the house account, tucked a bit in savings to pay back my mom for the moving expenses loan from last October, and dropped all of the tax return onto my credit card balance. And I've still got more than a paycheque's worth of funds left. Yay! Now, if only I can get those student loan thingies in order.

In other news, magicthegathering.com is starting Fifth Dawn previews today.

*kiss* Have a great day up on the hill, my love!

5th dawn, huh. I wonder what happened to the first 4.

You ever wonder what lengths they will go to to add new rules gimics to expansions?

You ever wonder how long it will take them to add another colour.
gah.

"I tap my hill for orange mana..."

You ever wonder how long it will take them to add another colour.

I doubt they'll add another colour anytime in the forseeable future. They're too invested in the colour pie to disrupt it. Besides, artifacts are kind of the "new" colour these days, aren't they?

I agree that adding a new colour would likely suck, though.

They kind of have to, to keep the rules monkeys (like me) happy. That said, it's obvious that I rather like the exploration of new mechanics with each set. ;) Some of them, like cycling, are perennial, though. It looks like equipment might be here to stay, too.

*puts on background geek hat*

The other four dawns were the creation of the white, red, blue, and black "moons" of Mirrodin. At the end of the storyline for Darksteel, the green moon emerged from Mirrodin's Core (as in the card) and blew up most of the Tangle. I suspect that a large part of Fifth Dawn is going to be stuff that puts all the recent rampant artifact decks in check.

*takes off geek hat and puts on hungry student hat*

And now I'm off to find lunch.

Welcome back to the fold. xD

Hrm. Mouse needs gets some Foratogs to go with some Crucible of Worlds. Yesssss.

Welcome back to schooling, fellow lab-rat.

Speaking of which, how your progress on the homework?

3/5. but it's tough to do them in isolation!
