It's a truism...

It's a truism that one is always one's own greatest enemy. I think the reasoning is something along the lines of, one always has more capacity and opportunity to damage oneself than any external enemy ever could.

Anyway, after the signing of a Defense budget bill, Dubya had this gem to say as part of his larger speech:

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

I realise that the strict meaning of that snippet wasn't his intention, but it does have the character of a collective-unconscious kind of Freudian slip.

yes ... that is a great quote.

It was my email sig yesterday ... *smile* ... we all realize that his intent was not to say quite what he said, but that does not change the fact that he said it.
